Battery-assisted passive RFID is a class of RFID that extends the capabilities of regular passive RFID far beyond its
standard capacity. At a cost that is a fraction of active RFID, battery-assisted passive RFID provides significantly
increased read range and reliability, extended memory on the tag, and increased security and data protection.
|
| Extended Read Ranges |
|
Read from up to 50 meters away Increased zone coverage Read in challenging real-world environments
around liquids, metals, and outdoors |
| |
| Increased Read Reliability |
|
Read around metal, glass and other RF-unfriendly materials
Multi angle, multi directional read capability
Bulk reads across a larger area, faster bulk reads |
| |
| Extended Memory |
|
Able to store a significant amount of data on the tag
64Kb total, 60Kb rewriteable |
| |
| Increased Security |
|
Tag authentication and locking
Block level locking for data on tag |
| |
| Patented Single Chip Design |
|
Significantly reduced tag costs compared to active RFID
Allows for smaller form factor tags compared to active RFID
Passive transmission protocol extends battery life compared to active |
| |
| Standards |
|
Based on EPC and ISO standards |
- Need to read longer distances between tags and readers, up to 50 meters
- Need to increase read reliability
- Need to read around challenging materials such as metal, liquid, etc.
- Need to store additional information directly on the tag
- Need increased security to protect the data on the tag
- Need active RFID capabilities, but at a significantly lower cost
