Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications provides supply chain and asset management businesses with the ability to "watch it while it moves", whether the "it" is fresh produce, a semi-trailer, a railcar, a shipment of vaccine or an individual. This facilitates real-time decision making, cloud computing and location-based alerting to improve business intelligence and optimize operations. By combining data from the field with corporate information systems, M2M brings more value to existing solutions.
Many current M2M deployments leverage cellular or satellite networks to export data to the cloud and bring connectivity to mobile and remote assets. However, for many field applications, connecting each asset with a cellular modem – and a dedicated data connection – can be cost prohibitive when many assets are involved.
Intelleflex® extends M2M’s reach by providing inexpensive coverage for many co-located assets by using a single reader with cellular connectivity or by providing the ability to track/monitor items at various points in transit. Intelleflex XC3 Technology™ provides on-demand data visibility by utilizing industry standard Battery Assisted Passive RFID tags to capture asset, sensor and location data and transmit the data to a reader. The reader then transmits the data through a wide area network (cellular or satellite) to a cloud based portal, creating actionable information which can be used by organizations to optimize operations run their businesses more profitably, efficiently and effectively.
